How to Add Options to an Existing Product Type

To add options to an existing product type, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Catalog > Attributes.
  2. Press Create New Attribute.
  3. Fill out all required fields.
  4. From the Input Type menu, select List.
  5. For the Attribute Type value, select the Option check box.
  6. From the Data Type menu, select Text.
  7. In the Values field, enter the name of an option.
  8. When finished, press the ENTER key on your keyboard. Create as many options as you like.
  9. When finished, save.
  10. Select Product Types the top of the page.
  11. Select the product type you would like to add the options to.
  12. In the Options section, press Add.
  13. Under the Attribute heading, select the attribute you just created.
  14. Under the Values heading, select each value you would like to add to the product type.
    • If you want to ensure that administrators who create products of this type always configure applicable options, select the Required by admin check box.
  15. When finished, press Done.
  16. Save the product type.

Now, when you create a product, you can apply your new options to it.
